If you prefer a more active holiday, you can choose your favorite sport and enjoy the splendid natural landscapes.
Take a break in one of the 100 masserie ( manor farms ) of Crispiano and let the magnificent Baroque architecture enchant you in Martina Franca.
The City of Crispiano is located 15 km from Taranto, about 234 meters above sea level, is a separate municipality from 1917 and has about 14,000 inhabitants. The discovery of a tomb, in 1912, indicates the presenceof settlements and its strategic importance since prehistoric times. As a result of these excavations, was discovered a “necropolis” stating that the town was founded in the late fourth century and the beginning of the third century BC and artifacts found there are now kept at the National Museum of Taranto.
The City of Martina Franca is located on a hill 431 meters above sea level on the highest step of Southern Murgia in the province of Taranto at a distance of 29 km. The old town is one of the most interesting towns of Apulia for its natural landscape and to the particular late baroque style that softens monuments and houses of the old town. From the top of the hill you can enjoy a horizon of the most striking, especially on the side that faces the Itria Valley. The city is also known for the Festival of Valle d’Itria, a great international festival of classical music.
